So, today I drove to Battle Creek to see Pete.  I haven’t seen him since May so I figured this would be as good of time as any to see him.  While I was there his two Step sister’s or however relation they are to him wanted to see a movie.  I of course agreed to the movie not realizing we were seeing a movie with a 5 and 8 year old.  We went and saw High School Musical 3.  Now I have already complained about this movie before but I had to be a hypocrite and pay my $3 to Disney allowing them to make $86,900,003 on this movie. All I can say is I am glad I had Pete there to enjoy this movie with me.
Things about this movie….
There is singing -  I knew there would be singing since it was a musical but I can not believe how awful it was and how out of place it felt.  Every time they broke into song the movie switched to studio performance mode and you could tell they were singing in some box at Disney studios.  I know it is a musical and people don’t just break into fully choreographed songs but come on at least try and sound like you are dancing and singing not just standing in some booth.  At least in other musicals you get the feeling that they are actually singing in a group and have practiced the singing and dancing together.
The Story - I don’t want to ruin it for anyone but the premise of the movie is that they are making a musical about there senior year of high school which is already a musical.  The drama teacher says that it is harder to do a musical about themselves then it would be to do one about something else.  I still do not understand how this could be harder.
The acting -  Zac Efron actually doesn’t suck that bad and Vanessa Hudgens is nice to look at( i can say that about her because she is at least 20 and I am pretty sure she has had some sort of media scandal about some risque photos with her and a boyfriend).  Everyone else though, is pretty awful Corbin Bleu wears a going green shirt throughout the whole movie which is never explained and also has a tuxedo on with his basketball jersey number and name on the back. Seriously he needs to get a new wardrobe.  Ashley Tisdale plays Sharpay Evans she was terrible, I feel like there was a secret love connection I was missing between her twin brother and her.
The scenes -  there is one scene where Zac Efron and Corbin Bleu are singing a song in the junkyard and all of the sudden they turn into little kids.  I am not sure what that had to do with the song other that to show they have been friends for a long time.  It was freaky and I felt a little scarred by it.
Honestly, not the worst hour and a half that I have spent, and the girls Pete, his wife and I took really liked the movie.  I do hope that the  The Free Beer and Hot Wings morning show does a High School Musical type calender next year like they were talking about.
